HPUK’s training day in Surrey

Steve, www.dogphotographerukcheshirewest.co.uk and I headed down to Emma’s, www.horsephotographeruksurrey.co.uk territory in Surrey for a full day of training.  We began the day with the dogs, Skye a collie and Sammy a puggle.  First it was the turn of Rachel and Skye – we did this in their back garden in Kingston-upon-Thames which was more than ample in size with lots of choice of areas.  Then we went out and about for a more urban look for Mille and Sammy the puggle’s turn.  Millie wore some funky leggings and Dr Marten boots and we got some great shots using mosaic wall art and a graffiti mural.

After breaking for a lovely lunch we then headed out to Chobham Common with a beautiful dressage horse called Rudy and its rider Melinda.  Emma styled this shoot for us and she chose a Victorian theme with the model wearing a beautiful purple gown.  It was such a sunny day I was a bit worried that it would be too bright however we managed to create some lovely dappled shots.

My budding photographer daughter, Ellie joined us on this day with her camera – check out her website for some of her images, www.elliewestwood-ruttledge.co.uk

Nikki’s Dog Shoot Training Day, Oldham

Franchisee Nikki enlisted the help of Penny and her dog Nissi the Pit-bull Terrier for a training day.  Penny’s boyfriend came along to assist so we got him in some shots too.  We went to a country park for the day which is definitely one to remember – It was a perfect location as it had bluebells, a canal, streams and fields.  We were spoilt for choice.  Nissi was a great model with a lovely temperament and very well behaved.  It decided to rain for a short spell so out came the umbrella for some shots.

We had a great shoot – here are some of the shots from our day…

Product shoot for The Bobble Hat Company

The founder of Fur Bobble Hat, Ollie is an existing client of mine so I was more than happy to work with him in shooting his range of hats and clothing for his new business, The Bobble Hat Company www.thebobblehat.co.uk.  Another customer of mine, Debbie modelled for us along with Nia, Joanne and a young girl called Tiggi who beautifully modelled the riding hat silks.  We had such a fun day working with some Doberman puppies and 2 horses.  I’d like to say thank you to Ruth who kindly loaned us her gorgeous stallion for the day and to Joanne for bringing along her horse too.

I think you will agree the new products are fantastic – here is a couple of our shots…

Hugo & Otto Canine Photo Shoot Part One, Harden Airport

I was contacted by Carol, the owner of Hugo an Otto which is a high end dog accessories Company to work with her over two days to produce the images for their look book prior to their shop opening in Tarporley.

Part one of our first day together took place at Arden Airport where Carol had 2 private jets and a hanger booked for us.  We also had a pilot modelling for us alongside the many dogs consisting of 2 ridgebacks, 2 pugs, a German Weisler and a miniature wire haired daschund who was only 13 weeks old!  For the second part of our day we moved to a new location – A church yard!  Here we were joined by children, a Labrador and the miniature daschund.  We got some great styled shots of them in the long grass.  Luckily for me I had taken Steve along to do some back ground shots for me as I needed him to go through his pictures once I realised I had lost my phone to narrow down when it was last in my pocket!  Both Carol and I loved the images which we got.

Have a look at some of them here…..

Steves training day with Ruby, Abigail & Pablo, Styal Park

I arranged for Ruby, Abigail and Pablo to take part in a training day for franchisee Steve.  Both the girls and Pablo were very excited to be modelling for us and they had a lot of fun dressing up for us.  It was a great chance for Steve to get a real feel for what it is like to work with both animals and children at the same time – something renowned for be ‘tricky’.  We both got some great shots from this early evening shoot in Styal and I am really pleased with how Steve is progressing.  Not long now until he launches his business… watch this space!

Kerry & Lexi’s Dog Photo shoot, Ellesmere Port

Kerry had a voucher given to her by her sister for a dog photo shoot with her staffy cross, Lexi.  I met them at their home where we started our shoot before going to the local park.  Lexi was very talented and could jump really high!  This was great for some action shots.  We also got some lovely shots of her in the water which can sometimes be tricky as dogs can stay ‘wet’ for a long time after however, Lexi didn’t look any different once she had been in.  We had a lovely fun day together and got some lovely images of them both.

Sammy, Tori with Fergus the lab and Mr Binx the Beagle modelling for Steve’s training day.

Sammy kindly volunteered to model for me with her lab, Fergus and also got Tori with her Beagle, Mr Binx to take part too.  We met them at Sammy’s cattery, Roeclare on what started out as being a sunny evening.  This gave us great light for the start and Steve got some lovely shots.  It began to rain and the grey skies meant we could get some really fab silhouette shots of them.  Tori paired her green mini skirt with some sparkly green heels.  Steve is continuing to develop his skills and is fast becoming a very experienced photographer.
